Where to Watch Fireworks in Portland, Oregon
Whether your visiting PDX for the holiday, spending your first 4th of July as a new Portlander, or simply looking for a new go-to vantage point to see the fireworks in all their glory, we’ve rounded up 5 of the best spots around town for optimum viewing this Independence Day.
1. Portland City Grill
This upscale bar and grill located on the 30th floor of the U.S. Bancorp Tower in downtown PDX offers unparalleled views of the city, perfect for firework gazing. Our tip: head to the bar area for the best view this 4th of July.
2. Council Crest
Situated at a staggering 1,073 feet, this city park is Portland’s highest point. Here you’ll find one of the most expansive views of the city available, although you won’t be as close to the fireworks themselves when compared to other locations on this list.
3. Willamette River Bridges
This one couldn’t be easier! Pick your favorite bridge and get comfortable. The Burnside bridge is known to draw big crowds, but the claustrophobia might be worth enduring for the experience of watching the show from an iconic PDX landmark this 4th of July.
4. Mt. Tabor
As one of Portland’s most beloved parks, there’s always a good reason to visit Mt. Tabor! If you plan to watch the fireworks here, be aware that the park closes at midnight, and the parking lot closes at 10 PM.
5. PSU Parking Garage
A great way to stay close to the action downtown, while avoiding the big crowds that can accompany it. Head up to the top floor for a great view in the heart of the city!
