Natural Healing in The City of Roses
Being surrounded by so much natural beauty here in the Pacific Northwest, it’s fitting that we’d also be surrounded by a world-class community of herbalists, apothecaries, and makers of all things plant-based healing. Here, we’ve rounded up nine of our favorite herbal businesses here in PDX.
1. Roots & Crowns
Max Turk, a certified herbalist, has turned a hobby into a thriving one-woman apothecary on a mission to bring plant power to the people. She does everything herself, including harvesting top quality wild-or-organic ingredients, processing, bottling, labeling, and shipping. What she can’t forage herself she sources ethically. All products are inspired by the people in her life and their needs – such as tattoo balms, wellness tonics and self care spa kits. You can find her products in several shops around Portland and online.
2. Fettle Botanic
There’s something to cure what ails ya at this herb shop located on SE Hawthorne. Dr. JJ has natural medicines, salves balms, tinctures, and herbs for any occasion.
3. 1121 Apothecary
This line of all natural products was created by Amy Miles after finding out her favorite bath products contained a bunch of unnecessary synthetic ingredients and animal products. So she decided to make her own vegan, natural, earth-friendly, fun, and high-quality bath and body products. Take a look at the full selection available online.
4. Rex Apothecary
Herbal goods for folks who prefer a simple and natural approach to body care for conscious consumers. No synthetic chemicals, no animal cruelty. For those trying to live a plastic free lifestyle, all products are eco consciously packaged. Available online!
5. Urban Oreganics
Being a devoted vegan and recent mother, a healthy lifestyle comes naturally for Emily Silverstein. Her line of natural products, Urban Oreganics is handmade in small batches, then packaged in recyclable containers.
6. Wolf’s Apothecary
“A return to wilderness” can be found in a wide selection of herbal body products for healthy lives from Wolf’s Apothecary. Beauty, candles, healing balms, and more!
7. Midnight Collective
Midnight Collective is known for their fragrant essential waters that can be sprayed in your hair, body, bedroom, or pillow. Natural luxury at it’s best! Browse their full line of products here.
8. Herb and Myth
Organic, high vibrational luxurious skin care for body, mind, and spirit is what you’ll find at Herb and Myth.
9. Maak Lab
Maak Lab has made a name for themselves by experimenting with the science of soap making to create all natural botanical soaps, inspired by the pacific northwest. Located downtown, their products are sustainably sourced, locally farmed, and made with organic ingredients to create very specific and unusual scents (like “Wifi”).
